supports world class cancer treatment throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria. Our aim is to work in partnership with local clinical staff to achieve the best possible care for cancer patients in Lancashire and South Cumbria wherever they are treated. We seek to do this by:
– Funding cutting edge equipment to help clinicians remain at the forefront of the fight against cancer.
– Supporting innovative ways to take the fear out of cancer for patients and their families during their treatment, making it as comfortable and stress free as possible.
– Backing local research projects that help improve our understanding of cancer and how it can be better diagnosed and treated.
– Facilitating top quality training to help clinical staff treating cancer patients be the very best they can be.
In 2015 the Rosemere Cancer Foundation spent £336,483 on projects that had a direct impact on cancer services across Lancashire and South Cumbria. It also committed a further £410,830 to long term initiatives that will roll out for the benefit of cancer patients over the next few years.
is a fantastic facility based in the heart of Blackburn dedicated to young people aged 8-19 years old and open 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. The Youth Zone offers unique opportunities for young people, from every background and of all abilities, to enjoy themselves in a safe environment, to take part in activities where they can fulfil their own potential, widen their horizons and make new friends. We provide countless social, arts and sports opportunities for young people of all abilities to engage in for just 50p per visit.
Encouraging young people to lead healthy lifestyles is a key part of our work at the Youth Zone, both through giving advice on how to give up bad habits and encouraging regular participation in sports. We make access to sport as easy as possible by offering a mix of both traditional and non-traditional sports in a relaxed environment with a focus on promoting fun activities which young people can try out with their friends and take part in with a particular aim in mind e.g. to feel better and look good.
We know that the Cycle Challenge will serve as a great inspiration to our members and spark new found interest in cycling – we would love to establish a Cycle Club here at the Youth Zone as a legacy of this challenge, encouraging young people to get on their bikes and explore!
If you want to be involved, it’s easy! Just by pledging your support to the rider of your choice you will already become a very key part of the team. And remember, you are not funding the challenge itself as each team member is paying his own way to be there – so all the money you pledge will go directly to where it is needed most. Thanks for the support!
